Licensing music for trailers can be lucrative and creatively rewarding - but understanding the rights, rates, clearances and deal structures involved can be a veritable minefield of confusion.

Rich Goldman is founder and President of Riptide Music Group, a leading music synchronization, publishing and administration company in Los Angeles. Some of Riptide Music’s trailer credits include, “The Boss”, “Mission Imposible: Rouge Nation”, “Furious 7”,”Avengers: Age Of Ultron” and “Selma”. Rich is a frequent speaker at various music events having moderated the MIDEM “Sync” panels from 2009 through 2015, ASCAP: I Create Music, Billboard Film & TV Conference, Game Developers Conference, Durango Song Expo and the British Sync Mission.

Anny Colvin, Director of Music at Vibe Creative

Born and raised in Washington State (GO SEAHAWKS!) Anny got her start in music in New York City, attending NYU and studying music business. After interning for Universal Music during college, she began her career at Motown and Republic Records working on music videos. In 2008, Anny moved to Los Angeles where she spent one year at UMe and three years in the Film/TV Department at Capitol Records. She moved into publishing in 2011 as the Film/TV creative at indie publishing company Position Music. Anny joined the Vibe Creative team as the head of music supervision in 2013 and has worked on various campaigns including The Witch, Jungle Book, 5th Wave, The Visit, Ant Man, Ted 2, etc.

Yoav Goren, President of Immediate Music LLC, PMA Board Member

Yoav Goren is co-founder and president of Immediate Music, and a PMA board member. From his first trailer score for Universal Pictures "Carlito's Way" in 1993 to recent placements in “Batman Vs. Superman”, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, “The Hunger Games Mockingjay Pt. 2” and other film, video game and television marketing campaigns, Goren continues to create and produce cutting edge music for film studios and agencies through custom scoring and the acclaimed Immediate Music catalog. Having provided music for over two thousand campaigns to date, Immediate Music is one of the motion picture advertising industry’s most utilized publishing catalogs. As a composer, Goren has earned an Emmy Award for his work on NBC's Olympic Games broadcasts, and promotes artists working in the Epic Music genre through his Imperativa Records label.

Lisa Bauman Wasiak, Owner of Music Wranger, Music Licensing

Lisa has worked in all aspects of the music business over the past 30 years. From the infamous mailroom at The William Morris Agency in New York, and the Bon Jovi/hair band days of A&R at PolyGram, to having the honor of working with the Muppets at the Jim Henson Company in LA, as well as participating in the enormous growth of the film music department at 20th Century Fox. Lisa now heads up her own company, Music Wrangler, which specializes in music clearance and licensing for movie trailers. Her clients include: Fox Searchlight, Open Road Films, Relativity, Europacorp, and many others. But most important, Lisa is a crazy-happy wife, super-proud mother, and ridiculously weak-kneed pushover, “sure-you-can-have-the-bed, I’ll-sleep-on-the-floor” servant to her four dogs.

Sohrab Nafici, Executive Director, Music/Legal, Warner Bros. Pictures

Since 2008, Sohrab Nafici has overseen music licensing for Warner Bros. Pictures Theatrical Marketing and Publicity. Prior to that, he was in music administration at New Line Cinema from 2003-2008. He started his career at Eighteenth Street Lounge Music in Washington, DC, handling synch licensing for Thievery Corporation and their label roster.

Monica Brautovich, Vice President of Music Affairs at Sony Pictures Entertainment

Monica Brautovich is currently the Vice President of Music Affairs at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Monica started at Sony Pictures 18 years ago working in Music Creative handling feature film licensing. After 10 years she moved into the Business and Legal Affairs division overseeing music rights for film acquisitions and finally settling in her current role managing theatrical marketing clearance and licensing. Prior to Sony Pictures, she worked in film development with various independent production companies.
