With over 2 decades of experience in the digital and physical worlds, last year Rich departed a six-year tenure from the world?s leading digital distributor IODA to launch his consulting practice, The Department of Public Works. Clients include media companies that require digital and mobile strategy, distributors and record companies, and his services include domestic and international licensing for physical and digital deals. In 2005, after spending four years in leadership roles at two independent physical distributors, Big Daddy and Sheridan Square?s Musicrama/MDM Division, Rich joined IODA in its infancy. Traveling around the world, Rich licensed and managed top catalogs for digital distribution deals, including mobile and marketing support. He led the development of IODA?s foray into digital video distribution where he supervised content acquisition and helped strike deals with Apple, Netflix and Amazon while leading the company?s internal teams to support the category. Rich has also held position at two leading online companies ? SonicNet and CDNOW.com, was GM at Vermont-based indie rock label Safehouse, and a publicist at Formula PR where he worked with Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Wolfgang Press (one of Rich?s all-time favorite artists), Live and others. Other stints include DJ at Pyramid and Limelight, co-publisher of the fanzine Oculus, live music event producer at CBGB?s, Under Acme and Tramps, and music journalist.
