Networking Taken to New Heights by NARIP and iFanz

On Saturday, July 14, the National Association of Record Industry Professionals held its monthly brunch at the home of Martin Nethercutt and Ruth McCartney, founders of iFanz. It was a day of fun yet
more than business as usual.

Record industry professionals, managers, publicity directors at every level, producers, audio engineers and recording artists gathered for this meeting of the minds in the plush L.A. suburb of Playa Del Ray.

The event was a perfect example of what Ruth and Martin call “schmingling” — which not only stands for “mingling with a purpose” but also seems to require massive amounts of food as well as impromptu presentations of professional accomplishments and invitations for collaboration.

Monthly NARIP brunches are a great networking opportunity for music industry up-and-comers as well as seasoned veterans, and provide excellent opportunities for interaction, guidance, and — sometimes — gossip.
