Chris Mollere, Fusion Music Supervision

Music Supervisor Chris Mollere’s diverse interest in the world began quite early in life. Growing up in a military family, he traveled extensively while living in Europe and various stateside locations. At an early age he developed a unique appreciation and love for all styles of music. He especially credits his family’s love of music and his father’s extensive record collection as an early influence. His passion and love of music evolved even further as he began attending concerts and playing music himself. Chris attended and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and in addition to receiving an excellent education in the areas of psychology, advertising and business, he participated in countless music events that the city and state had to offer. Living in Austin provided Chris unlimited opportunities to attend concerts ranging from the most seasoned performers to a diverse variety of new artists. Becoming friends with many musicians and music venue owners provided Chris with a unique perspective of the behind the scenes challenges and business aspects of music. To further expand his knowledge of the music business, Chris worked with bands in management, production and promotional capacities. These early positions helped Chris understand many of the diverse facets involved in the music industry. After graduation, Chris moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a full time career in music and entertainment. One of Chris’s first jobs was as a Producer’s / Composer’s Assistant at Music Forever in Hollywood. There he served as a liaison with record labels, advertising agencies, directors and producers while working on a plethora of projects. One of these projects was the film Memory, which provided Chris his first opportunity to work as a music supervisor, an experience that would confirm he could fuse together his passion for music and film. Since then, Chris has had numerous credits as a music supervisor, including working on the ABC Family Television series KYLE XY and 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU, as well as on the feature films THE BOX, I HOPE THEY SERVE BEER IN HELL and THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY. Chris is currently the music supervisor for the CW television series THE VAMPIRE DIAIRES as well as for the ABC Family series GREEK and PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. He has recently completed the soundtrack for Season One of The Vampire Diaries, which was released on Capitol Records in October 2010, and he recently completed working on the soundtrack for Season One of Pretty Little Liars which is out on Water Tower Records.

Andrea von Foerster, Firestarter Music

Andrea von Foerster was born in the West Midlands in England and grew up in various parts of the U.K., Indiana and Southern California. She got her start in the music business while attending the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. Andrea started working at Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group in the music department for live action features during her junior year on such films as Armageddon, Gone In Sixty Seconds and her favorite…High Fidelity. Andrea has done music supervision for film, television and online projects for the last ten years. Credits include music documentaries such as Freestyle: The Art Of Rhyme, Mayor Of The Sunset Strip and The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights as well as independent films such as (500) Days Of Summer, It’s Kind of A Funny Story and most recently From Prada To Nada. Television work includes The O.C., Grey’s Anatomy and Dollhouse and numerous MTV shows such as Run’s House and Life Of Ryan. She is currently working on the studio feature Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (New Line Cinema) and the independent film I Am Ben in addition to the TV shows Modern Family (ABC), Traffic Light (Fox) and Stargate Universe (Sy-Fy).

Sharon Dean, Executive Director NARIP UK, Director Respect Music (co-moderator)

Ms. Dean is Executive Director or NARIP UK and Founder / Director of London-based publishing company Respect Music. Prior to starting Respect Music she was Director of Licensing at PRS for Music where she was responsible for all audio / product / media licensing. She is also on the Board of AIM.

Tess Taylor, NARIP President (moderator)

Tess Taylor is president of the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) and creator of NARIP’s Music Supervisor Sessions, which have yielded multiple placements in shows such as True Blood, Dexter and others in less than six months since the series inception in 2011. Featuring top music supervisors from the film, TV and ad agency sectors, NARIP’s sessions have been a hit in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berlin and New York, with sessions scheduled in London in November 2011 (two of which are sold out). One of the nation’s leading authorities on careers in the music and record industries, Ms. Taylor has connected countless people to jobs and opportunities through her work in the US and abroad, cultivated collaborations for over two decades, helped launch hundreds of projects and several companies. Music Connection magazine named Ms. Taylor in its list of “50 Innovators, Iconoclasts, Groundbreakers & Guiding Lights of 2008” (Dec 2008). Dubbed “International Music Ambassador” by music supervisor P.J. Bloom (Glee, Nip/Tuck, The Shield, CSI: Miami), Ms. Taylor works with groups such as the European Music Export Office, Danish Songwriters Guild, French Music Export Office, Boomtown (Sweden), Berlin Music Commission and others to connect their members to opportunities in LA and throughout the U.S. She has consulted leading businesses such as MySpace.com in its start-up phase, InsideSessions (a joint venture between the Universal Music Group and Penguin Putnam, Inc.), The Walt Disney Company, BMG Entertainment (formerly Sony BMG), Concord Records and others. Ms. Taylor has lectured at the Harvard Business School, in Bangalore, Berlin and beyond. She recently keynoted at Popkomm (Berlin), at the Drucker Career Conference (LA), the Trigger Creative Conference (Borlange, Sweden), and guest-lectured at the University of Vienna’s Institute für Popularmusik in Austria. She was invited to present her “Success Strategies” at NAMM 2011. Deeply annoyed by people who think music should be free, Ms. Taylor is a vigorous defender of intellectual property rights and debated Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder John Perry Barlow on “free music” at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth (2006) and was invited for a rematch at Ohio University (2008). She won both times. From 1988 to 1993 Ms. Taylor was employed at MCA Records, Inc., last serving as Associate Director of Marketing. A classically trained pianist, she studied music at the University of Vienna, and is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Redlands’ Johnston College where she received her BA degree in music, German and literature. She loves traveling the world, nibbling dark chocolates and drinks lots of tea. She also loves fine fountain pens, anything written or recorded by Glenn Gould or Pete Townshend, gripping crime novels and hiking with her English cocker spaniel.
