Ed Razzano, VP of Film, TV & Catalog Marketing, BMG Chrysalis. Until recently he was VP of Business Development for Ricall, an automated online music licensing platform supported by real-world music licensing experts. Prior to this was Senior Director at BMG Music Publishing in New York. At BMG he was responsible for negotiating synchronization licenses for advertising and merchandising in the US. While at BMG Razzano gained extensive international experience as he was also responsible for international clearance of all BMG’s US repertoire for music in advertising campaigns around the world. Razzano’s almost 20-year industry experience is drawn from far beyond his time at BMG Publishing. He started his career at a TV commercial editorial house, Crew Cuts Film & Tape, then went on to join the music department of one of the world’s largest advertising agencies at the time, DMB&B. His experience was fortified by positions at CBS Television as well as Universal Music Publishing and Independent music publisher, Spirit Music Group where as Senior Creative Director he oversaw all the film, television and commercial synchronization licensing.

Don Kaplan, Esq.

Don Kaplan has been a transactional entertainment attorney for over 30 years specializing in the music industry. He is currently in his own practice after having first worked at 2 major records companies (RCA Records and CBS Records, currently Sony Music) and then in private practice for many years, first with the boutique law firm, Grubman & Indursky and then Greenberg Traurig. On the artist side, he has represented such artists, producers and personalities as Alicia Keys, Good Charlotte, Phil Ramone, Joan Jett, Marc Anthony, Marky Ramone, John Melendez and Mr. Jackie Mason. On the corporate side, among others, he has represented Island Records, Chrysalis Records, and Mushroom Records (Australia) and was a significant part of the team representing Live Nation in its well-publicized deals with Jay-Z, Shakira, and U2. He also teaches an annual bridge course at the University at Buffalo Law School focusing on transactional matters relating to the recording industry.

Ted Stachtiaris has over 15 years of business, legal and music industry experience. Ted previously was an attorney at the international corporate law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP, where he specialized in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions. He then joined the firm of Grubman Indursky & Shire, PC, where he focused on entertainment law matters, representing multi-platinum artists, producers and record labels. An entertainment veteran, Dan Strader has extensive experience producing and touring music and stage productions, nationally and internationally. Michelle Bayer, Founder, Shelly Bay Music

A long time veteran of the music business, Michelle Bayer is an executive who knows how to get things done from both the artist and management sides of the table. Her experience includes record labels, publishers, and artist management. Prior to opening the doors of Shelly Bay Music, Michelle held the position of Vice President, Creative Business Development and Music Publishing at Tommy Boy Music. Shelly Bay Music provides music consulting, music placement, music publishing and royalty administration. As VP of Creative Business Development at Tommy Boy, Michelle developed a TV/Film/Soundtrack department into a major revenue generator for the label ($3.8 million in just 36 months), giving new artists exposure in non-traditional formats when it was tough to get radio play. As VP of Music Publishing, Michelle oversaw publishing activities for all writers signed to Tommy Boy. During this time she also developed the company’s B2B website, copyright and royalty systems and negotiated licensing deals for sampling, mechanicals, and synchronization. She also implemented the use of the Right Track System as their main royalty system for the publishing. Prior to Tommy Boy Michelle was the Manager of Tracking at EMI Music Publishing. She was a liaison between the Copyright, Royalties and International Departments. She also dealt with Mechanical Rights and Performing Rights societies to secure proper licenses and payments for their enormous catalog of songs. Prior to EMI, she worked with Peter Leak at The New York End Ltd managing artists such as 10,000 Maniacs, The Waterboys and Cowboy Junkies. She liaised between the artists and the publicity/promotion/marketing departments at their labels and she coordinated their touring and travel. During her early days in the music industry, Michelle worked with the legendary John Hammond (who discovered Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughan among others) in A&R; with CBS Records in A/C Promotions; and at ASCAP in the membership department, learning the workings of a U.S. Performance Society. Finally, her experience as an Assistant Engineer at Media Sound Recording and face-to-face with the consumer at retail managing a Record Town chain store, has given Michelle an extremely well-rounded education about the ins and outs of the music business. She has a BA in Management of Music Enterprises and continuing passion for music and entertainment.

Peter S. Matorin, Esq., Managing Partner, Beldock Levine & Hoffman LLP

Peter S. Matorin became a partner in the firm in 1980. His area of practice is entertainment law and intellectual property. He has extensive experience representing recording artists, performing artists, producers, songwriters, publishers, production companies, record labels, managers, agents, authors, dancers, choreographers and actors.

Hayley Cammarata, Digital/Strategic Marketing and Product Manager at Decca Label Group/Universal Music Group

Hayley Cammarata, Digital and Strategic Marketing/Product Manager Hayley Cammarata came on board at Decca Label Group, a division of Universal Music Group, in 2007 and developed the Digital Marketing Department from the ground up. As a Digital and Strategic Marketing Manager, some of her responsibilities include managing all DLG artist Web sites and label sites including social networking platforms, developing and maintaining strategic partners and branding relationships for the label and artists as well as managing the department. After developing the department to what it is today, all releases have strong online visibility including mainstream real estate within sites like AOL and Yahoo as well as partnerships with less traditional entertainment sites. On top of all of her duties on the digital side, Hayley also serves as a product manager to some of the label’s new developing artists including indie darling Ladyhawke. The diverse roster at Decca is home to such artists as Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Boyz II Men, David Sanborn, Dee Dee Bridgewater, David Garrett and newcomers Debi Nova and Nikki Yanofsky. Prior to her work at Decca, Cammarata honed her Internet marketing skills at labels such as SonyBMG, Warner/Elektra/Atlantic and completed an internship at ATO Records.

So I’m a quarter century old. I live in Brooklyn. Music has been the one of the only things I’ve been passionate about. The pursuit of new music is a reason to wake up in the morning and trying to expose that music is why I can’t sleep at night. When I graduated college, I flirted with the idea of law school, but I soon came to the realization that I wanted to be a part of the music industry in whatever capacity I could. I got an internship with Ropeadope and my life has been constructive chaos ever since. I have dipped my hands in most aspects of music: marketing, booking, promoting, stage management, tour management, journalism, and A&R. I take pride in my ability to learn by doing and am always on the watch to be as educated and informed as I can be about the music business as well as upcoming bands. Currently, I’m the Manager of Social Distribution at Oddcast. After the day job ends, I spend my time on SoundCtrl, a music tech organization based out of NYC, where I’m the blog editor and board member. I’m a being-productive junky so when I’m not working, I’m cooking, exercising, homebrewing beer, reading, writing or catching up on the few TV shows that have any substance these days.


Eric de Fontenay, Publisher / Editor, MusicDish LLC

Eric de Fontenay has spent his career steeped in what has been called the “digital revolution”. In the 90s, he worked on a variety of policy issues surrounding the communication & broadband sectors for telecommunication carriers and regulators across the world. With the emergence of the Internet, Eric established MusicDish (formerly Tag It) in 1997 as a new media firm using emerging technologies and models to produce, package and distribute original web-based content. Making an early bet on the music sector, Eric launched what has grown into some of the leading voices in the growing debates challenging and shaping the industry through its trade e-publications MusicDish and Mi2N. Under his leadership, MusicDish expanded into artist development through saturated marketing and online branding, using innovative strategies such as syndicated and relationship marketing, online street teams and p2p viral distribution. Eric continues to be a frequent speaker at conferences worldwide and today manages Toronto-based ‘kaiso’ band Kobo Town.




Steve Gordon, Esq.

Steve Gordon is an entertainment attorney and consultant based in New York City specializing in the production, distribution and financing of music, television, documentaries, feature films, and digital entertainment projects. He also operates a music clearance service for producers, filmmakers, and labels for use of music in feature films, documentaries, concert programs, DVDs, audio compilations and ringtones. He is author of the book titled “The Future of the Music Business: How to Succeed with the New Technologies, A Guide for Artists and Entrepreneurs.” (Hal Leonard 2008.) Steve’s clients include artists, independent music and TV producers, digital entertainment entrepreneurs as well as major labels and multinational entertainment corporations. Steve won a Fulbright Scholarship to lecture on entertainment and copyright law and was a visiting scholar at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy in fall 2007. Steve has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the New School, an Instructor at CUNY Graduate Center and recently moderated seminars at Columbia Law School, the Wharton Business School, and was a speaker at entertainment conferences in Denmark, Belgium, Bahamas and South Korea. From 1991 to 2001 Steve served as an attorney and Director of Business Affairs at Sony Music (TV/Video). Prior to Sony, Steve worked at Dino Di Laurentiis, a movie studio in Hollywood, and a music publishing company, SESAC, in New York. Steve is a graduate of New York University School of Law and a member of the NYC Bar Association.

A limited number of scholarships are available to attorneys who are recent graduates and not yet employed, and unemployed attorneys who must take CLE courses in order to meet state requirements. She provides representation to a variety of industry talent, including musicians, songwriters and managers. Ms. Herman also provides counsel to institutional clients, including media companies. Neil Lawi, General Manager, WWE Music Group, A Division of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

As the General Manager of WWE Music Group, A Division of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. Neil Lawi is responsible for all aspects of music business for World Wrestling Entertainment. This includes music for television programming, films, TV specials and other projects involving music. The most recent example of this, Lawi confirmed Green Day’s “Know Your Enemy” to be the new theme song for WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown. In 2006 Lawi took the position of GM at WWE Music Group where he works to link the WWE brand with popular music across all mediums, including film, television, radio, the Internet, ring tones, video games, and emerging digital technologies. WWE Music Group works with in-house talent, as well as established recording artists and outside labels and management, to create new music for WWE television and pay-per-view programming, WWE Superstar albums, entrance theme collections, and a variety of new initiatives. Lawi joined WWE in 2003 to lead the company’s PR department where he was responsible for securing media exposure for WWE Superstars such as Vince McMahon & the McMahon Family, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, Triple H, Torrie Wilson, Stacy Keibler, Big Show and John Cena among others. Lawi came to WWE from Columbia Records where he held the position of VP of Publicity after working his way up from interning at the company. At Columbia he worked with artists such as James Taylor, Aerosmith, Jeff Buckley, Chuck D from Public Enemy, Shawn Colvin, Cypress Hill, Train, Neil Diamond and many others. He also supervised record labels that came through Columbia such as American Recordings where he worked with Rick Rubin, Johnny Cash, T Bone Burnett & The Coen Brothers and their label, DMZ Records. DMZ featured artists such as Ralph Stanley and soundtracks to Cold Mountain, A Mighty Wind and The Ladykillers. Lawi holds a BS degree in Management and double minor in Marketing and Organizational Studies from Ithaca College.

Joe Rudge, Music Supervisor, Search Party Music

After seeing his first Kiss Army concert in 1978, Joe Rudge was hell-bent on a career in music. His father, tour manager for The Rolling Stones and Lynyrd Skynyrd, took Joe on the road throughout the late seventies, kindling a life-long interest in the music and entertainment industry. Joe started as a production assistant at VH1, but soon moved on to music supervision when he was hired to music supervise for The Disney Channel. 2006 was a breakthrough year for Joe when he music-supervised the cult hit BRICK for Focus Features and the ABC shows LOST and SIX DEGREES through the music supervision company Search Party Music. Joe’s recent film credits include ROMAN POLANSKI: WANTED AND DESIRED for Think/HBO Films, the Paul Dano & Zooey Deschanel film GIGANTIC, and the Alexis Bledel film THE GOOD GUY. Joe’s most recent films include BLUE VALENTINE starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams and TWELVE for director Joel Schumacher. Currently he’s music supervising Wayne Wang’s SNOW FLOW AND THE SECRET FAN for Fox Searchlight and Aza Jacob’s TERRI for ATO Films. In addition to film and television, Joe also music-supervised a number of commercials with Search Party Music.




Jon Stone, Founder, Deepfreeze Music

Jon has worked in music for over 20 years as a musician, songwriter, producer, artist manager, and in music publishing, rights clearance, consulting and music supervision. Jon also served as synch licensing manager for a prestigious independent music publisher, negotiating and licensing placements of some of the most famous pop and jazz songs of the 20th Century for TV, film, commercials, stage, video games and more. Jon started Deepfreeze Music to promote the music of his former clients for synch placements, and has recently expanded to represent the music of new clients from as far away as New Zealand. Erik Masone joined Deepfreeze in 2008. Recent projects include music supervision for the soon-to-be released indie feature film Missing Pieces and music supervision and rights clearance on a documentary in production about the famed 1970s NYC rock club Max’s Kansas City. Jon lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

An entertainment veteran, Dan Strader has extensive experience producing and touring music and stage productions, nationally and internationally. Mr. Strader started his career in television news production. moving to syndicated national programming with Warner Brothers Television. ABOUT THE SPEAKERS


Arne Lucas, Consultant, Illiance Creative Group

Formerly the Director of Mobile Marketing at INgrooves, Arne has spent over half his life in the music industry. His first experience was in the early ‘90s as an artist with the San Francisco-based Soul / R&B vocal group IF. During this time he realized he felt more comfortable behind the scenes, and went on to perfect his skills as a recording engineer. By the mid ‘90s he was chief recording engineer for a full service recording studio located in San Francisco’s Mission District and was working as an executive assistant to the President of a local Bay Area label – Classified Records – which was picked up by Tommy Boy in the late ‘90s.

At the time, the Bay Area music scene was thriving but Arne felt that there was more to accomplish. By now he excelled at the label, getting his hands into everything from A&R duties, to engineering, physical retail distribution and licensing. He was soon hired on full time and thrived at the label. Arne took to the business of music, expanding his knowledge of publishing, licensing and contract negotiations. He moved on to assist in a new music venture for the New York City start-up A Media, which focused on the Asian American entertainment industry.

He was then approached a few years later by his mentor at Classified to take on a Music Supervisor position for 360 Media Group. 360 Media’s flagship product was a DVD series called 360 Video Magazine, a quarterly video magazine that specialized in the import car scene, extreme sports, music and entertainment. Its first mainstream release “Hard Drive” was certified gold and distributed at major retail chains such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Target as well as hundreds of smaller retail stores worldwide. After a number of years and over 20 releases under his belt at 360, the DVD market was on a decline so Arne moved into a new career.

In 2003, he accepted a Product Manager position with Hudson Entertainment Inc. who had just acquired the license to The Source Magazine. This was his first experience in the wireless entertainment industry and he hasn’t looked back since. He was integral to bringing what many say was the “Bible of Hip Hop” for over 20 years – The Source Magazine – to mobile. The Source Mobile Channel was one of the only ringtone applications on deck that strictly distributed Hip-Hop/Urban ringtones – this was during the lucrative “polyphonic” era of the ringtone and well before carrier white label mastertone stores such as the ones currently available on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T etc. He eventually moved to a more video game-centric position in mobile as an Account Manager with Namco Networks – working directly with carriers to launch the classic game catalog for mobile from the legendary video game giant. It was here where he learned the intricacies of the carrier world. After close to 2 years peddling mobile video games he decided to get back into the music business at INgrooves where he served as Director of Mobile Marketing for 4 years, overseeing the mobile business for the digital label.


Raj Singh, Mobile Consulting / Strategy / Product Planning / Definition Expert

Raj Singh is a mobile industry veteran having worked across the space over the past 12 years. Raj is the Founder and CEO of venture-backed Tempo AI focused on developing a day assistant. Tempo AI was spun-out of SRI (Stanford Research Institute) where Raj served as an EIR (Entrepreneur in Residence). Previously, Raj was the founding Vice President of Business Development for Skyfire, a mobile browser that supports full Flash rendering. Prior to Skyfire, Raj co-founded venture-funded Veeker, NBC’s mobile video citizen journalism service and ToneThis, CNET’s top downloaded ringtone creation product. Raj has also worked in product management, engineering, strategy and consulting roles for Kodak Mobile, Dell Mobile, Cellmania, MobiTV, PlayPhone, Tellme, Samsung, Turk Telekom, IGT, Hungama Mobile, Vlingo and Antenna Software. Raj’s personal projects include GameChalk, an SMS multi-player game service, Pubwalk, an LBS bar-hopping service and Wired Mashup of the Year winner in 2006 and YumYum Labs, an Android recipe voice search application and Sprint App 4G Challenge winner. Raj is also a mobile advisor to numerous companies including Movoxx, Nearverse, TinyTube, LocalResponse, Textopoly, Knocking Video and also an investor via ENIAC Ventures. Raj is a regular mobile writer and speaker including formal and guest blogging for GotoMobile, Venturebeat, O’reilly Emerging Telephony and VisionMobile. Raj is a mentor at 500 Startups and Founder Labs and has also made contributions to a number of mobile user and expert groups including the JCP, MMA and the Bluetooth SIG. Kahlil Najar, Mobile Manager, INgrooves Fontana

Currently the Mobile Manager for INgrooves Fontana, Kahlil Najar started his career in music the old fashioned way by working at an independent retail record store. While there he dove head first into the music industry by obtaining an internship at Universal Music, a part time job at KARA in San Jose, working at KMEL as a street team member, volunteering at Classified Records all the while attending Cal State Hayward where he received his degree in Business Management with an emphasis on Marketing Management. After working the front lines of retail, Kahlil landed a job at KOCH Records (now E1 Entertainment) as a Field Marketing Representative which eventually transformed into a physical sales position. He serviced all the major accounts as well as some key independent retailers and was one of only two representatives to service the entire Bay Area. After he saw the decline of the physical market, Kahlil changed career paths and moved into an Artist Relations representative position at music merchandise heavyweights, Cinder Block. Kahlil’s responsibilities included signing bands to new merchandise contracts and placing orders for artists that performed worldwide. He was the account lead for a range of bands like the Silversun Pickups, H20, 30 Seconds To Mars and Death By Stereo. Seeing that music was still adapting to different ways to sell music, Kahlil joined the team over at Tribal Brands, the music agency of choice for Verizon Wireless. Starting with clearing artwork for print advertising, Kahlil eventually transferred into the Music Team and helped facilitate the programming of the Verizon VCast Music handset as well as the VCASTMUSIC with Rhapsody online application. He was also an integral part of the team which helped Verizon Wireless decide on who Verizon should team with for tour sponsorships, licensing/synch opportunities, online promotions and in-store activations. After a downturn in the economy, Kahlil planted himself at skyrockit where he was the lead programmer for Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile. He helped launch Boost Mobile’s Music related Twitter contests as well as securing artists for Virgin Mobiles First Dibs program. Starting in late April 2012, Kahlil joined INgrooves Fontana as the Mobile Manager in charge of securing mobile promotions for all of INgrooves Fontana’s labels.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS


Roger L. Cramer, Esq., Selverne & Company, PLLC

Roger Cramer has been in music business since he was 17 years old starting as a DJ on college radio stations in his native Cleveland then later at the University of Michigan. It was at Michigan where he began promoting concerts and where he ran the university concert organization Eclipse Jazz. He had the good fortune to promote many of the jazz greats who performed in the late 1970s including Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Sarah Vaughan, Oscar Peterson, Weather Report and Herbie Hancock, many of whom performed as part the Ann Arbor Jazz Festivals that Mr. Cramer organized. When he moved to New York City in 1981 he began managing artists, some of whom he met while working at Eclipse Jazz. He managed Shannon Jackson’s Decoding Society through whom he met Vernon Reid who later formed Living Colour. Roger managed Living Colour from 1984 until their break up in 1995. During this period, Roger also attended Fordham Law School and was admitted to the New York bar in 1988. Although a legal career in the music business was poised to commence, Living Colour’s success allowed Roger to pursue a full time career as a manager, and Living Colour went on to sell over 4 million albums and win 2 Grammy awards. Their single “Cult of Personality” is a classic. After Living Colour broke up Roger continued to manage artists including Wayne Shorter, Ween, Soul Coughing, Lisa Loeb, The The and Citizen Cope. In 2000 Roger decided to restart his legal career and joined the law firm of Selverne, Mandelbaum & Mintz. Following the breakup of SMM in 2008, Roger has been of counsel to the firm Selverne & Company, PLLC. As an attorney, Roger has had the pleasure and challenge of working with some of the top artists performing today including Nelly, Ludacris, Tiesto, Wu Tang Clan, Scissor Sisters and up-and-coming artists such as the White Rabbits, Freddie Gibbs and Los DaMystro, he provides legal services to a wide variety of clients including independent record labels, producers, composers, actors, filmmakers as well as to a variety of small businesses. .

Jason Pascal is Vice President & Associate General Counsel at The Orchard, a physical and digital distributor of independent music and video. The Orchard has been in business for 14 years, and distributes recordings by 12,000 labels via 600+ retail outlets worldwide, with offices in 25 countries. Jason’s prior experience includes his own film / music / telecommunications law practice from 2002-2005, running the music division at the 1st ad-supported, digital distribution model called PlayJ, from 1999-2001, and Legal and Business Affairs at BMG International from 1996-1999. In her three-decade Leo Burnett career, Cheryl Berman was responsible for the majority of the agency’s most successful and famous marketing efforts. As Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett USA, Cheryl held Leo’s own original job. She played a vital role bringing in more than half the accounts residing at the agency when she left, including McDonald’s, Disney, Hallmark, PetSmart, Altoids, Turner Classic Movies, Coca Cola, Kraft Foods, and ConAgra. Cheryl has always championed results driven work. For the last ten years under her leadership, Leo Burnett was the single most awarded agency for effectiveness. Cheryl is a role model for women. In 2004, she struck a chord with the concept “Miss Understood: She’s Not Buying Your Ads,” which debuted at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes. Cheryl continues to speak on this topic around the world, receiving acclaim from CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and Reuters. Cheryl has frequently written award-winning original music for brands like McDonald’s, Disney, Hallmark and Kraft. In 2005, she introduced Burnett’s Artist in Residence Program to build face-to-face working relationships between popular artists and the agency, thereby streamlining musical solutions and facilitating unique opportunities for marketers. The immediately successful approach was embraced by clients including McDonald’s, Kellogg and Nintendo, and was featured in Business 2.0, Billboard and The Wall Street Journal. A former journalist, Cheryl joined Leo Burnett as a copywriter. Proving herself to be a prolific writer and able manager, she became the first woman appointed to Burnett’s Board of Directors. She has received industry accolades including Chicago’s Ad Woman of the Year. She was featured as the “Determined Ms. Berman” in The Wall Street Journal’s Creative Leaders series. In 2008, Cheryl and her partner Tom Dickson launched Unbundled, a revolutionary concept in marketing services. Tena Clark, CEO & Chief Creative Officer of DMI Music Media Solutions; Composer/Lyricist

What musical touchstone does President Barack Obama, the most powerful ruler in the world, share with Aretha Franklin, crowned the greatest singer of the rock era by Rolling Stone Magazine? The answer is the music expertise of Tena Clark. The company she founded, DMI Music & Media Solutions, programs the President’s music for Air Force One, and Clark also recently produced the Queen of Soul’s most recent album. Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Jennifer Holliday, Gladys Knight, CeCe Winans, Dionne Warwick, Patti Austin, Stephanie Mills, Yolanda Adams and Rev. Highlights include penning award-winning country hits, contributing to multi-platinum movie soundtracks including Hope Floats, The Five Heart Beats, Where the Heart Is, and My Best Friend’s Wedding, writing for television shows like Desperate Housewives, and creating the instantly recognizable national campaign theme, “Have You Had Your Break Today,” for McDonald’s. In homage to her musical and spiritual roots, Clark produced Church: Songs of Soul and Inspiration that included classic soul artists like Patti LaBelle and Chaka Khan plus contributions from Pulitzer Prize winner, Dr. Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison. A stratospheric anthem from this collection, “Way Up There,” written and produced by Clark and performed by Patti LaBelle, was nominated for a GRAMMY award. “Way Up There” was originally commissioned by NASA as their theme song. Clark, a preeminent songwriter, is one of the rare female producers in the music business, and is among the most influential women in American media. Lori Lambert, Senior VP Strategic Alliances, Universal Motown Republic Group

Ms. Lambert is responsible for creating brand partnerships and cross promotions with corporate entities and advertising agencies, strategically aligning Universal Motown artists with appropriate promotional, marketing, lifestyle and advertising campaigns. She is the company’s liaison to the electronic gaming industry, all entertainment events and music opportunities in the world of sports, and oversees the company’s film and TV licensing efforts. Ms. Lambert has over twenty years of music industry marketing experience. Prior to joining Universal Motown, Ms. Lambert served as Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Sony Music, where she created the department in 1998.

Jeffrey M. Liebenson, Esq., Liebenson Law

Jeff Liebenson is a leader in media, technology and entertainment law, with extensive expertise in digital entertainment, international and intellectual property law. Kenny Ochoa, Vice President, Music Licensing at Sony Music Entertainment

Over the course of his fifteen year career in the music industry, Kenny Ochoa has worked with some of the most influential musicians and power players in music, entertainment and brand building industries to pitch, broker and execute multi-million dollar deals for Madison Avenue, Hollywood studios, and Silicon Valley. In his current role as Vice President of Music Licensing at Sony, Kenny identifies and secures new licensing opportunities for Sony Music’s vast catalog of 2 million master recordings and frontline artists as the company’s chief liaison to the advertising and brand community. While at Sony, Kenny has brokered multi-million dollar deals including Train and Samsung, which was a major driver to over 5 million digital downloads sold of “Hey Soul Sister” to date, Passion Pit and Palm Pixi, which during the campaign shot their song “Sleepyhead” to 28,000 downloads per week, and worldwide Apple advertising campaigns featuring The Ting Tings, Franz Ferdinand and, most recently, Cake. Prior to his role at Sony, Kenny served as Vice President of Film and TV Licensing at Sanctuary Records Group where he was responsible for marketing, pitching and placing music on acclaimed and influential, musically driven first seasons of television shows (The O.C, The Sopranos, Entourage and Grey’s Anatomy), first and early use of licensed music in video games (Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, Grand Theft Auto) and Hewlett-Packard’s use of “Picture Book” by the Kinks, which was named “Campaign Of Year” in 2005 by Adweek magazine. Before working in music licensing, Kenny held various roles in the music business in radio, entertainment law and running his own Los Angeles-based independent record label in the early 90s after recording two albums of his own and being signed as a recording artist.



Umut Özaydinli, Founder & Chief of Possibilities for Deviant Ventures (former Global Music Marketing Manager, Worldwide Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Coca-Cola, now Deviant’s client)

Seasoned entertainment marketing expert Umut Özaydinli worked for The Coca-Cola Company internationally in various countries for 10 years before leaving the world’s biggest beverage company to start his own venture. Deviant Ventures is a boutique culture and entertainment marketing company with the ambition to help brands deviate from the norm using music, art and technology. Current clients include The Coca-Cola Company, Diesel Jeans, MTV and various communication agencies as solutions partners. Özaydinli held various roles within the Coca-Cola Company over the years. Highlights of his career include founding Turkey’s biggest open-air music festival Rock’n Coke, launching Coca-Cola’s first ever SMS based promotion in 2001 and creating various entertainment properties like the Coca-Cola Soundwave Express, a program featuring Europe’s longest party train that visited the best music festivals across Europe in eight different countries in 2005. In his last role, he headed up the beverage giant’s global music marketing efforts and strategy as part of the Worldwide Sports and Entertainment team. His wide range of achievements in this role include the creation of international music marketing properties like the Olympics WE8 featuring world-renowned electronic music acts including Tiesto and Benny Bennasi, the creation of Coca-Cola Trademarks first global music marketing strategic framework and placing music for commercials including the music placement and development of Coca-Cola’s 2009 Superbowl ad, Avatar, that featured a remake of Elvis’s track Stranger in the Crowd by Cee-lo Green of Gnarls Barkley. His last project for the company was launching the global Open Happiness campaign through a musical anthem featuring lead vocals by Cee-lo Green of Gnarls Barkley, Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and Janelle Monae. It reached over 50+ global markets and topped the charts in 15 countries. It also reached #1 in China and was translated into over 10 languages. The single increased online chatter about the campaign +730%, while delivering 150 million free impressions. Most recently Özaydinli initiated and launched music for Coca-Cola’s 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign featuring Wavin’ Flag by K’naan, the biggest campaign in Coke’s history, reaching over 150 countries. The single is considered the biggest driver of the campaign and was translated into over 20 languages while peaking at #1 in 19 countries and delivering over 100 million views on YouTube.



Marcus Peterzell, Managing Director, Engagement and Entertainment Marketing, FATHOM Communications

Marcus is a veteran and pioneer in the entertainment marketing business, and has created campaigns for more than two dozen top brands including Nokia, AXE and Jeep. His strategic acumen combined with in-depth experience and deep relationships in the entertainment industry have been invaluable to companies looking to promote their brands through entertainment channels—be it TV, film, music, gaming or digital. Marcus started his career in concert promotion at Concone and Electric Factory Concerts where he planned and executed the marketing plans for over 80 arena shows in five markets. He then moved into television developing and producing network and cable TV series and specials for outlets including Cinemax, Lifetime, USA, Viacom, and MTV. Marcus was then named president of Fiction/Elektra records where he formulated the marketing plans for the labels roster of artists including The Cure, where he served as the band’s U.S. manager representing them for four platinum records and a sold-out North America stadium/arena tour. In 1996 Marcus joined Music Marketing Network as SVP of marketing and sales where he helped create the industry’s largest opt-in database of music buyers. In 2001, Marcus joined MusicVision as SVP of Marketing and Sales selling the firms music marketing assets into various Fortune 500 brands including Sony Pictures, Nokia, Hyundai, Polaroid, Doritos, and VH1. In 2004 Marcus was recruited by Radiate/Omnicom and named co-president of their leading entertainment marketing agency AWE (merged into GMR to form GMR Entertainment in 2007). There he oversaw the agency’s strategic marketing and business development efforts. In this role Marcus created and executed entertainment marketing platforms for over 40 national brands including A&E, Nokia, Jagermeister, Marlboro, Verizon Fios, The History Channel, Blackberry, Candies, Philips Electronics, Jeep, E!, Cruzan Rum, and JC Penny. In early 2009 Marcus moved within Omnicom to join Fathom Communications as the company’s Managing Director of Entertainment Marketing. In this post, Marcus is responsible for enhancing Fathom’s traditional advertising services with integrated entertainment marketing solutions. This past summer Marcus and his team executed a ground-breaking partnership on behalf of Johnson & Johnson tying in the Lilith Fair tour, Walmart, Self Magazine, and content from all four of the major record labels. Marcus is an acknowledged leader in the entertainment marketing industry and has spoken at over a dozen high profile industry events. As a board member for the T.J Martell Foundation, Marcus serves as chairman of the foundation’s annual Family Day event, the charity’s most profitable fund-raiser. Josh Rabinowitz, Senior VP of Music, Grey Group

Josh Rabinowitz has produced 5000+ tracks for commercials globally. He’s been called a “New Music Mogul” by Fast Company, Beethoven’s Greatest Fan by NPR and is a recognized voice in music/branding. He’s been an adjunct at NYU and The New School, a columnist for Billboard, and a bandleader/trombonist in NYC. He presents regularly at MIDEM, Advertising Week, CMJ, The New Music Seminar, The Clios, ADE, Sync Up, SXSW, The Shoot Forum, various Billboard Conferences, and the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, where he has presented the Grey Music Seminar with such artists as Yoko Ono, Tony Bennett, Steven Van Zandt, John Legend and Donovan.
