Over 2,000 Placements PLUS 30 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch Sessions

A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers

Is your music getting to decision-makers? At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback. BACKGROUND Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members.   Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, thirty (30) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now.  Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work. Topics at this NARIP Advertising Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
  • Meet top, veteran trailer music supervisor Jordan Silverberg who places music in ads and promos for hit television shows and blockbuster films
  • Pitch songs directly to Jordan for his priority & upcoming projects
  • He seeks new and untapped talent to elevate projects he works on
  • Learn how to get placed directly from the buyer, hear what works and what doesn’t
  • Direct access + firsthand info = better results FOR YOU
Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants.   At NARIP Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the guest music supervisor, synch agent or producer, and they to get to know you.   NOTE: Out session with Jordan Silverberg will be 2 hours only (most NARIP Pitch Sessions are 3 hours), therefore we will limit enrollment to fewer participants. Most important, attendees meet these key players, paving the way for placement, representation, collaboration and ongoing opportunities, and giving them an edge in a competitive market.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR PITCH SESSION PREPARATION IS KEY

NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people.  About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 5 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session. Please note that due to time constraints you will only be able to pitch your TOP 3 songs for consideration and immediate feedback (more, if time permits). This process takes the mystery out of why a piece of music does or doesn’t fit. On-the-spot feedback enables registrants to re-work tracks and re-submit, which creates a much higher probability to get them licensed (choose well!).

If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the supervisor, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog.  Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music supervisor’s needs change constantly. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs. Good luck and see you there!

BEFORE NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:

  • NARIP prepares a one-sheet for each participant including your photo and bio for the guest music supervisor to use and review at the event, and to take with him after the event.  We will request your photo and bio one week prior to the event.  In preparing these materials, we recommend you focus on brief career highlights in your bio and have a professional photo available.
  • Approximately 5 to 7 days prior to NARIP’s Session, you will be sent a project brief describing several cues needed for a current project(s) of our guest speaker.  These often include reference songs or links so that you can hear exactly what he seeks or needs to replace.
  • You will submit your tracks with writer, publisher and other rights holder information that will also be supplied to the music supervisor during and after NARIP’s Session.
  • You will get submission and meta-tagging guidelines, and mentoring as to how best to prepare your music for submission.
DURING NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
  • You will get to play at least three songs (sometimes more, if time permits) for the guest music supervisor who will provide feedback to you for each one.
  • NARIP moderator asks very specific questions to help participants learn and understand how to modify their tracks to make these more place-able for the guest supervisor’s specific needs at hand.
AFTER NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
  • NARIP provides guest music supervisor with participant one-sheets and all music from NARIP’s Session, including notes detailing the guest music supervisor’s interest in specific tracks.
  • If requested by guest music supervisor, NARIP conveys additional tracks, remixes, instrumentals etc. to him.
  • If approved by guest music supervisor, NARIP provides his contact details to registrants.

  • Meet Hated Industries’ music supervisor Todd Porter
  • Pitch songs directly to Todd for his priority & upcoming projects
  • Todd looks for new and untapped talent to elevate campaigns he works on
  • Learn how to get placed directly from the buyer, hear what works and what doesn’t

Each participant must submit 7 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session.

DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 2,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest. OVER 2,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed over 2,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions.  Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more. NARIP’S BIGGEST PLACEMENT TO DATE : VODAFONE Click here to read about NARIP’s biggest placement to date in a Vodafone campaign (Oct 2014) that paid handsomely and launched a career.  Other brand placements include McDonalds and AT&T ads, among others. Placements secured and professional relationships formed through NARIPs music supervisor sessions have earned praise and many placements! See TESTIMONIALS and PLACEMENTS sections below.
About Todd Porter, Music Supervisor, Hated Industries.

Todd Porter has been working in advertising for the past 25 years. A dedicated fan of the live music experience, he sees over 500 bands a year, (at least until the Pandemic, which has really messed up that plan.). He’s placed many of his favorite artists in commercials and also produced a few campaigns for the Super Bowl. He’s partnered with his clients to create music content, working to place music in the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl campaigns and booking artists for the Doritos stages at SXSW and E3.   His music supervision work has resulted in a higher profile for brands and elevated brand recognition among music-minded consumers, not to mention sales in the millions for artists and labels. He’s launched acts into the charts and helped them become commercially successful.

ABOUT PETER JANSSON
Peter Jansson is a much-loved NARIP guest, who speaks frequently at NARIP events. Taking piano lessons from the age of 5, Peter graduated from the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, Australia proficient not only in piano but several other brass, woodwind and stringed instruments.  Classical music soon gave way to rock ‘n’ roll, and a brief but impressive career was spent playing keyboards in small clubs to outdoor arenas with various bands in Australia.  Peter graduated from live performances to studio work and soon became a keyboard session player in great demand in many studios Downunder. Early on, the position of Professional Manager was offered by Festival Music, Australia’s largest independent music publisher.  Dealing with both local and international songwriters, Peter soon developed a rapport with many successful songwriters and artists.  EMI Music Publishing offered the position of Creative Director in 1984 which gave Peter the chance to work with the largest catalogue of songs in the world.  As one of the original participants in the EMI Executive Exchange Program, Peter was given the chance to experience many of the major world music markets first hand by working in numerous EMI offices such as Tokyo, Hamburg, Paris, London, New York, Nashville and Los Angeles. In 1989, PolyGram Music offered a joint venture deal for Peter to set up his own music publishing company, and Janssongs, Inc. was born.  First headquartered in Sydney, Peter moved the operation to Los Angeles in 1996.  Janssongs’ writer roster included an impressive who’s who of Pop/R&B/Country writers including several Grammy-nominated writers and producers.  The company also music supervised many feature films during the course of its operations which enabled the company to draw from its talented pool of writers and composers and ensured activity for their individual catalogues.  Janssongs, Inc. was acquired by a New York investment group in October, 2004. As a Music Industry executive, Peter has represented Paul McCartney, Queen, David Bowie, Kate Bush, A-ha, Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, Divinyls, Roxette, Europe, Gilbert O’Sullivan, The Motels, Leo Sayer, Dexys Midnight Runners, Stevie Wonder, George Harrison, Blondie, Laura Branigan, Don McLean, Grace Jones, Juice Newton, Gerry Harrison (Talking Heads), The Wiggles, Little River Band and Ronnie Milsap amongst countless others. In 2004, Peter was a signatory to a Joint Venture agreement with the Chinese Government and was given the historic opportunity of creating the very first “legitimate” music operation in mainland China, representing 65,000 CD masters and 1,757,000 copyrights and developing the infrastructure to China’s emerging national music industry. Peter joined the Disney Music Group in 2016 as Senior Manager, International for Disney Music Publishing and was tasked with protecting and enforcing the global rights and collecting all revenue types for the iconic Disney Music Publishing catalogue globally, ex-USA.  Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing and managing the relationships with all our global partners, including resolving any and issues at all 187 CMOs globally as well as DSP disputes.  Black Box reports reviewed frequently; suspense and control accounts matched against our catalogue claims; YouTube Disputes and Appeals claim resolution on a daily basis; and international monitoring of Societies’ distributions and income tracking of missing royalties. Peter is a regular guest at music conferences throughout the world, bringing his years of knowledge and experience to many Music Industry panels.  He is also a regular guest lecturer at the UCLA Music Extension course in Los Angeles, and is a frequent guest for many songwriting associations, radio shows and print publications. Peter studied Music Composition and Performance at Sydney University (Australia) as well as audio engineering at the School of Audio Engineering in Sydney.  He is fluent in English and French, and lives with his wife Kristen (also a gifted pianist) in Los Angeles, California.

A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Grammy-winning Music Producers

Is your music getting to decision-makers? At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback. BACKGROUND
Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members.   Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, twenty (20) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now.  Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
At NARIP’s Trailer Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
  • Meet Space Cowboy Music’s owner and Chief Music Supervisor Naaman Snell face-to-face who curates and selects music for trailers and promos for blockbuster Hollywood films, hit TV shows, games and other media.
  • Pitch songs directly to Naaman for his current and priority projects
  • Learn how to get music placed directly from the buyer, hear what works and what doesn’t
  • Get immediate feedback, ask questions, get answers
  • Direct access + firsthand info = better results FOR YOU
Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants.   At NARIP Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the guest music supervisor, synch agent or producer, and they to get to know you.

Each participant must submit 7 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session.

A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Grammy-winning Music Producers

Is your music getting to decision-makers? The Synch Agents* featured in NARIP Pitch Sessions are among the top sales and marketing executives who actively place music owned by songwriters, composers and independent music publishers. Many music buyers – directors, producers and music supervisors – name these Synch Agents as among their go-to music providers.  These Agents, who NARIP has researched and interviewed, have placed thousands of songs in blockbuster films, hit television shows, trailers, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and video games. At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet and pitch Synch Agents for current placement opportunities and representation, and get immediate feedback. Come meet these career-makers.
BACKGROUND Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members.   Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, twenty (20) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now.  Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
At NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions:
  • Intimate event with top synch agent: enrollment limited to 16 people
  • No cattle calls, no 300-person crowds or conferences, no velvet ropes
  • Get brief in advance to prepare your best pitch
  • Direct access + firsthand info = better results FOR YOU
  • Access multiple potential buyers and placements via ONE synch agent
  • Get professional representation
Topics:
  • Trends in synch licensing and agent deals
  • Exclusive, non-exclusive, single-song deals
  • Budgets and fee ranges
  • Copyright ownership, rights retention, song re-titling
  • Fees between synch agents and their clients
  • Which synch agents seek a transfer of copyright(s) for their services, and under what circumstances
Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants.  At hundreds of NARIP Sessions, we asked every guest music supervisor how to better market music to them.  Their one consistent piece of advice?  Get representation! At NARIP Synch Agent Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the synch agents and they to get to know you. Most important, attendees meet these key players, paving the way for possible representation and ongoing opportunities, and giving them an edge in a competitive market. * Synch Agent: A synchronization or “synch” agent represents music copyrights – either the composition, the sound recordings, or both.  They pitch music to buyers and their representatives, including to music supervisors.  Synch agents are typically compensated on a commission basis and do not own or control the copyrights they represent.  While synch agents usually focus on entertainment and media exploitations, traditional songplugger services also include placement of represented songs with recording artists.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP SYNCH AGENT PITCH SESSION:

PREPARATION IS KEY

NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people.  About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 7 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session.

  • NARIP provides guest music supervisor (or synch agent) with participant one-sheets and all music from NARIP’s Session, including notes detailing the guest music supervisor’s interest in specific tracks.
  • If requested by guest music supervisor, NARIP conveys additional tracks, remixes, instrumentals etc. to him.
  • If approved by guest music supervisor, NARIP provides his contact details to registrants.
DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 2,000 placements and 22 representation signings to date.

Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest. OVER 2,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS

A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Grammy-winning Music Producers

Is your music getting to decision-makers –  people who can say YES and write a check?
BACKGROUND Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured almost 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members.
  • Pitch to a seasoned pro who can say “YES” and write you a check

How To Screen Print with Martin Atkins: Broaden Your Merch Range For Less, Increase Bottom Line

Fri Apr 17, 2020 – 9am PST / 11am CST

FREE NARIP Webinar: Tune In From Anywhere

Graphic above: a few of Atkins’ designs. Join us at this NARIP program to hear and see how Martin Atkins takes artwork designed for promotion and sales, screen-prints it, saves money, and creates value. Learn how you can, too. We tuned in to Martin Atkins’ recent program on this topic and learned so much useful, practical info that we asked for permission to rebroadcast it for NARIP Members.  Martin generously offered to do another program on the same topic for NARIP, and take questions live.  NARIP is a long-time fan and follower of the aggressively humorous, smart, take-no-prisoners and let-nothing-hold-you-back D.I.Y. approach Atkins takes (and we are proud owners of his highly recommended Tour:Smart, a book on touring  every professional should buy and read immediately, if not sooner – it’s on NARIP’s Recommended Reading List). Anecdote: during the program we attended online, Atkins told the story of an artist at SXSW seeking $10,000 in sponsor funding to create merch, whereupon one of his friends said all she needed was $2.  Then with nothing more than a Q-tip, bleach, a spray bottle and a few old T-shirts, she created merch that has become collectible and highly valued by her fans.  Atkins showed us how. YOU WILL LEARN
  • Versatility of screen printing: not as hard as you think
  • Powerful tools
  • Simple equipment & supplies, including inexpensive substitutes
  • Visual samples, including T-shirts, posters, postcards, suits, coffee bags and other items
  • Broaden your range of merch to raise your bottom line
  • Imperfection is your friend – turn “errors” into one-of-a-kind collector’s items
  • The power of speed: knowledge of screen printing enables you to create and update fast to meet demand, such as adding tour dates to a poster
“I feel blessed to have the skill of screen printing right now,” says Atkins. “It’s enabled me to come up with new bags for Dark Matter to put coffee in and other retailers to use in different ways for very little cost. A little bit of time and a little bit of skill, we were able to create a way for other people to make their own momentum!  Screen printing is such a valuable tool to put into your tool belt, connect to your audience, define your brand and, yes, make some money too!” It’s OK to tell bands to ‘sell more merch’ to fill the dollar gap from lost shows, but how do they make more of it without going further into debt?  Screen printing helps! NARIP will be host this a virtual screen printing workshop with Atkins from his Invisible Records label offices in Chicago so you can learn how to create your own merch, scenery, posters and more.  He will show you basic techniques and share ideas to broaden your range of merch and raise your bottom line. Get an insider’s peek at the economic and artistic realities of the fastest-changing, hottest business in the world and don’t miss this intimate and interactive learning experience.
