From there went on to work as an assistant to a well-known actor and then a successful commercial director. A love of music lead to a career move into music video production and eventually into the position of Head of Music Video at Spy Productions in Los Angeles. This move offered many great opportunities to help develop directing talent. Madonna then segued into a career in music supervision – first, as a partner in Daisy Music and now as owner of whoopsie daisy. Madonna’s television career has included work on series such as Charlie’s Angels, Blue Mountain State, Smallville, Castle, What About Brian, Barbershop, One Tree Hill, Alias and Felicity and such films as Fred: The Movie, The Perfect Score, My Boss’s Daughter, Careless and the yet to be released A Thousand Words starring Eddie Murphy and Kerry Washington. Growing up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, interesting music was in short supply and Dan would frequent the college record store, comb garage sales, scan fanzines and make out-of-town trips just to satisfy his craving for intriguing and exotic tunes, both new and old. This experience serves him well to this day as both a DJ and a music supervisor. For years, Dan was Music Director at Ten Music, a company that found commercial licensing opportunities for indie artists. He now works freelance as a music supervisor for various film, TV and ad projects. Since 2007, Dan has hosted a Saturday night music program on KCRW. He hosts a musical piñata of sounds perfect for a night of partying, including new discoveries, remixes and rarities, b-sides and lost classics. As the Director of Music at FUEL TV, Scott is responsible for music supervision of the network’s extensive slate of original and licensed programming as well as live event coverage and special features along with overseeing all music licensing efforts. From searching for the right music to highlighting a specific moment, negotiating terms of use with labels and publishers, coordinating on-air artist performances, soliciting original composition creations or facilitating marketing initiatives involving music based promotions, every day is a different challenge. FUEL TV is a division of Fox Sports where Scott’s expertise in music supervision and licensing is also lent to assist the efforts of affiliate stations and their on-air promotions. Prior to FUEL TV, Scott’s talents contributed towards pioneering the increasing connection between music and gaming as Senior Music Supervisor at Activision Blizzard. It was in this position that Scott was awarded Videogame Music Supervisor of the Year for 2010 by his peers in the Guild of Music Supervisors. Growing up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, interesting music was in short supply and Dan would frequent the college record store, comb garage sales, scan fanzines and make out-of-town trips just to satisfy his craving for intriguing and exotic tunes, both new and old. This experience serves him well to this day as both a DJ and a music supervisor. For years, Dan was Music Director at Ten Music, a company that found commercial licensing opportunities for indie artists. He now works freelance as a music supervisor for various film, TV and ad projects. Since 2007, Dan has hosted a Saturday night music program on KCRW. He hosts a musical piñata of sounds perfect for a night of partying, including new discoveries, remixes and rarities, b-sides and lost classics. In addition, he has deejayed at many of the top nightspots in Los Angeles, including The Standard Hotel, Bardot, Zanzibar, The Crocker Club and a residency at The Doheny, as well as various events at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles Film Festival and the Independent Spirit Awards. ![]() Scott McDaniel, Director of Music, Fuel TV Session #6: Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Scott’s background in music encompasses a range of experience related to the art and business of joining music with visual and entertainment mediums. As the Director of Music at FUEL TV, Scott is responsible for music supervision of the network’s extensive slate of original and licensed programming as well as live event coverage and special features along with overseeing all music licensing efforts. From searching for the right music to highlighting a specific moment, negotiating terms of use with labels and publishers, coordinating on-air artist performances, soliciting original composition creations or facilitating marketing initiatives involving music based promotions, every day is a different challenge. FUEL TV is a division of Fox Sports where Scott’s expertise in music supervision and licensing is also lent to assist the efforts of affiliate stations and their on-air promotions. Prior to FUEL TV, Scott’s talents contributed towards pioneering the increasing connection between music and gaming as Senior Music Supervisor at Activision Blizzard. It was in this position that Scott was awarded Videogame Music Supervisor of the Year for 2010 by his peers in the Guild of Music Supervisors. ABOUT TONY VON PERVIEUX Tony began his career in music management working as an assistant for Aaron Walton Entertainment; an entertainment company specializing in management for a variety of talented artists. He then transitioned over to independent music supervision by working as an assistant to Dawn Soler. Dawn has been supervising Film and TV for over twenty years, working on such movies as Dumb and Dumber, Princess Diaries I & II, Catwoman, Dead Man Walking, Hollywood Homicide, Enchanted and more. Tony co-supervised some films with Dawn and a few on his own before making the jump to TV as a music supervisor for the hit series Ugly Betty. He independently supervised Ugly Betty for the first season and simultaneously was hired by ABC Studios to work as Creative Director for the TV music department. ABC Studios has produced many successful on-air shows for multiple broadcast and cable networks. Some of the series shows include Army Wives, Castle, Cougar Town, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Happy Endings, Nashville, Once Upon A Time, Private Practice, Revenge, and Scandal. Over the course of six years at ABC Studios, he oversaw all aspects of music for their shows and assisted with providing music for the ABC Marketing & Promo department with their TV campaigns. Currently, Tony is supervising several shows under creator Bill Lawrence including Cougar Town, Surviving Jack, UnDateable and Ground Floor. He also manages the artist Rivvrs who will release his first EP in August. Another project of Tony’s is AppStage, a mobile app that enhances the live show experience by providing more band-to-fan interaction before, during and after the show. It also serves as a hub for each specific event. He is also co-founder of The Happiest Hour, a TV/FILM/MUSIC industry mixer that has been around for nine years and running. ABOUT RUSSELL ZIECKER Ziecker has had multiple careers within one vocation…starting out as a bass player in a number of touring and recording bands, moving into his music business career as a music publisher at both Chrysalis Music Group and Virgin Music Publishing. In the mid-90s, Ziecker moved into personal management for several artists including major label acts Jason Falkner (Elektra), Jeremy Toback (RCA), and Lazlo Bane (Almo Sounds). Later in the decade, Ziecker emerged as President / COO of Milan Records / BMG, and was responsible for releasing 75+ titles ranging from soundtracks to chill-out compilations.There, collaborating with some of most talented directors, composers and producers, Ziecker stretched the boundaries that define the typical soundtrack release. Upon leaving Milan Records, Ziecker ran US operations for Simon LeBon’s Tokyo-based music production company, SYN, which specialized in high-profile commercial and advertising, production and branding. Ziecker has produced the music for over 350 commercials. ABOUT ALEXANDRA PATSAVAS Alexandra Patsavas – owner of Chop Shop Music Supervision – got her start in the music business as a rock promoter in Champaign, Illinois. She moved to Los Angeles in 1990 and worked in the Film / TV department at BMI. She then moved on in 1994 to work for Roger Corman at Concorde Films, where she was music coordinator and supervisor on over 50 B-movie classics in a three-year span. After her stint at Concorde, Alexandra started her own company, Chop Shop Music Supervision, where she music supervised the TV shows Roswell, Carnivale, Boston Public, Fastlane, The OC, Without A Trace, Numb3rs, Chuck, and the films The Invisible, The Twilight Saga, A Better Life, Water For Elephants, The Dilemma, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Warm Bodies, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. She produced the soundtracks for Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, The OC, Rescue Me, Gossip Girl, Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
