Six-time Grammy-winning super producer Harvey Mason, Jr. was our special guest at NARIP’s SOLD OUT Producer Pitch Session last week where attendees presented music for consideration to work with him, his label, publishing company and stable of in-house producer-writers. Mason has written and/or produced hits for the Who’s Who of super star talent including Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and others.

Several NARIP attendees received high praise from Mason including Walter Shelton (“your talent is undeniable”), Koda Corvette (“the vocal things you are doing create a signature sound which is almost impossible to find, it’s super cool”), Arash Haile (“super contemporary, catchy songs, great writing, and very applicable to artists I have signed”), and Renald Francouer (“I love your production, this is super strong, really solid, I want to hear more”).
NARIP members flew in from Cleveland, Chicago and Dallas to meet Mason and participate in person – impressive!
When asked about his time management, he said, “There is no such thing. Don’t worry about time management, just work and invest ALL of your time. It’s not about being a well-balanced human – you have to sacrifice to get to where you want to be. This business is more competitive than any other so it requires more sacrifice, persistence and dedication. You have to write at least 1000 songs before you can write one good song. Once you have that great song, doors will open and relationships will come.”
