The New York office of an esteemed international accounting firm is recruiting a career-minded individual with a strong understanding of royalty calculations and transactions giving rise to royalty payments to join the professional staff of its royalty contract compliance team within the Advisory Services group. Responsibilities: Work closely with partners, managers and professional staff in the profit participation and royalty contract compliance audits the firm conducts on behalf of its clients, which include songwriters, publishers, recording artists, licensing companies, patent holders and other owners of intellectual property rights. • Assist in planning of engagements and execution of fieldwork procedures. • Analysis and interpretation of contracts and ability to apply terms to commercial transactions. • Identification of royalty contract compliance issues and calculation of underpayments. • Drafting of royalty reports, concisely explaining and quantifying the underpayments and compliance issues identified. • Assist in resolution of issues. • Supervise various levels of professional and support staff in royalty contract compliance audits to determine whether clients have been paid all royalties they are entitled to receive. • Adherence to budgets. • Communicate effectively with clients and third parties in telephone conversations, written correspondence and meetings. • Travel to client and/or audit locations as necessary. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree. • At least three years’ experience with royalties as an auditor or as a royalty accountant at a licensing company, music publisher, record company, video game publisher, or similar organization. • Ability to supervise others in a team environment and work on multiple engagements simultaneously. • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. • Organized and mindful of both project deadlines and budgets. • Highly proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel (knowledge of pivot tables and look-ups are a must); knowledge of Access, SQL and/or other database programming languages a plus. • Strong analytical skills and experience working with large, complex datasets. • Comfortable engaging in both written correspondence and oral conversations with firm clients and/or audit personnel. • Work well with employees, clients and licensees. • Highly motivated and looking to advance within the firm.
