In LA - Tribute Dinner - Al Schlesinger - Album 2
These photos are taken at the Tribute Dinner for Al Schlesinger NARIP sponsored on Sep 12, 2012 in Los Angeles and evidence the many, many people whose lives Al has touched in a positive way.
In the history of the record business, there has never been a national professional association for career record executives, and we felt it was conspicuous by its absence, so we established NARIP in 1998. The record industry is not just a business, it is also a community of relationships, and people who wish to be informed, productive and to work and share together. Many of us share common professional goals: to be our best and to give our best to our companies to and to our clients.
No one represents this better than Al Schlesinger. If there was a record executive’s Hall of Fame, he would have been inducted long ago. Our industry has been through challenging times, but we still have great people to respect and admire who are making it a better place for us to work, in an industry we love. People like Al.
Al has been active for over 50 years in this business, helping countless people along the way. From Elektra Records president Jac Holzman (brought him new bands) to Ted Myers (whom Al helped to secure a deal that enabled him to live as a songwriter) to music attorney Michael Perlstein (offering him extremely favorable office rental terms which enabled him to move to CA), and many more.
Al is a man of many accomplishments and kindnesses. We are happy so many friends and colleagues were able to join us on this special evening for him.
Excellent photos by Melissa Rebronja and Tim Haarman.
